GENERAL INFORMATION

1. INTRODUCTION
Fans are turbines that allow the air and other gases (from here will be called as air) to move (move from one place to another) within a certain flow path by pressurizing. A good fan is a fan with a low energy consumption (high efficiency), low noise and, if possible, low cost when performing the desired performance. Fans are the devices with wide range of usage in many sectors like; building HVAC systems, iron and steel, glass, cement, wood industry, road and rail tunnel ventilation, mining, power stations (cooling towers), parking ventilation, petrochemical, chemistry, wind tunnel, transportation, sugar, paper, environmental industry, industrial ventilation. Electric motors are generally used in the drive systems of the fans. Fans are the ones that consume a significant amount of electricity in industrial and commercial buildings. There are still many fans in Turkey, in the industry that are old-fashioned and not highly productive. For this reason, increasing the efficiency of fans and fan systems will contribute to increase energy efficiency. The efficient use of energy in fan and fan systems can be ensured by the optimum selection, manufacturing and operation processes. This is because the fans consume hundreds of times the energy of their initial investment costs. This means; The best fan is not the cheapest fan for a business. This point is very important, and the fan should be taken into consideration when buying the fan and designing and installing the system to be run. What should be done here is to select the fan whose lifetime cost is the optimum fan (first investment cost + lifetime operation cost = minimum).

2.FAN TYPES
Fans are classified in different ways. A classification is used herein.
1. Axial fans,
2. Centrifugal fans,
3. Axial-centrifugal fans,
4. Roof type fans,
5. Counter current fans (blower),
6. Vortex or regenerative fans,
7. Others,
